Oxnard Civic Center
Oxnard, Calif.

Barnhart Balfour Beatty provided construction management multi-prime services to complete renovations and additions to the Oxnard City Service Center for the City of Oxnard. The two-story, 38,000 square foot building is the centerpiece of the Oxnard Civic Center in downtown Oxnard.

Features of the $25 million project include a new council chamber, public lobby and fire administration/emergency operations center building.  Renovations were made to the Old Library and Towers of the existing administrative building.  An existing 18,000 square foot building was partially demolished, saving key elements and recyclable/reusable materials for reconstruction.   The building was expanded at the both ends to accommodate the required space for a growing staff that supports the city’s services.  The structure incorporated extensive energy saving glass walls, clay blocks, metal panel wall systems and operable windows. The interior houses moveable panel wall and floor systems that allow easy reconfiguration of power and data and will make this building versatile for the city’s changing needs.
