Barnhart, Inc. provided general contracting service to the City of Indian Wells to build a two-story golf clubhouse and pro shop with underground cart storage. The clubhouse, dubbed the IW Club, is the centerpiece of the City’s destination golf resort which hosted the nationally broadcast ABC Skins Game in 2007 and 2008. The facility is flanked by the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort and the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa.
The building is a cast-in-place concrete and steel superstructure finished with sandstone veneer, stucco, and storefront glazing exterior. Interiors feature numerous stone floors and walls integrated with varying wood veneers, glass stone, and stainless steel finishes. The facility also includes a restaurant with a full-service commercial-grade kitchen, sports bar, cafe bar, 2,000-SF ballroom, a temperature-controlled wine room, administration offices, multipurpose meeting room, and perimeter patios and cantilevered balconies. In addition to the clubhouse, a Fairway Grill and three comfort stations were constructed along two renovated championship golf courses.
The upscale facility was designed and built to withstand strong seismic activity and can serve as an emergency relief center as well as a central meeting space for the community.
